Get Out and Vote March 9

Superintendent’s Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we finish out February and head into spring🤞🏼, I am reminded how much we have to be grateful for in our District.  We have been the only local District to keep students in school 5 days a week this entire year!  Our District’s Mission – maximizing student learning and ensuring all students are growing academically, social-emotionally, and behaviorally EVERY day – has remained the focus.  Whether in-person or online, our students have benefitted from being in school every day and staying connected to their teachers, staff, and peer group.  Many thanks to our staff for their unwavering dedication and the School Board for the supportive stance!

With the goal of increasing voter turnout on March 9, we have been sharing factual information/videos through mail, social media, and our website.  We have also hosted several community meetings and met with a number of business owners throughout the District.  I truly believe that open and consistent communication will provide our patrons with the facts they need to make an informed decision on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Much Gratitude for your continued support, Dr. Meyer, Superintendent

Big News for the District

Graduation rates have been announced and it is time to celebrate how unique and incredible this District is!  96.7% is a huge achievement, but let’s break it down a little more.  For all cohorts (size of the graduation class at the high school) of 171 students or more, Lakeland has the highest graduation rate in the State of Idaho.  This is something to celebrate!  The other amazing statistic is Mountain View High School’s 5-year cohort graduation rate = 96.4%, soaring above the State of Idaho’s overall graduation rate of 82.1%.  Not only does this beat the State Average by a long shot, this is by far the highest graduation rate for any alternative high school in the State.  This is a testament to the hard work our staff, students, and parents put in every day and we are so proud!

Replacement Instructional (Supplemental) Levy = Tuesday, March 9th

In just a little over one week, voters will head to the polls where they will see the Replacement Levy on the ballot.  This two year Levy is a renewal of the current Levy expiring this year.  After a tax shift at the State level changed the funding mechanism for our Idaho public schools, in 2008 the LJSD began asking the community to support Supplemental Levies every two years.  Local tax dollars, by way of Supplemental Levy, make up 26% of the yearly budget for our schools.  The positive is that our local tax dollars go to our local schools – more local control.

Check out the March 9, 2021 Levy Page on our website for more information
